Nick Nocero

Claims Intern
School Attending: Saint Joseph’s University

How do you describe your internship to someone you’ve just met?

I’m working in the Claims Department of one of the most recognized brokers in insurance. Our primary task is to be by our clients’ side through their losses in order to make the process as painless as possible. We work hard with both our clients and carriers to solve any problems that may arise.

What’s your morning ritual, prior to heading into the office?

I like to start my morning early. Before heading to the office, I like to make a cup of coffee and catch up on business news. I also take a look at stock market projections for that day.

What does your morning typically entail?

My day starts the minute I walk through the door. I catch up on any emails and then start on any long-term projects. I like to be available for anything that may pop up throughout the day.

What do you do for lunch?

I like to take a late lunch once I’ve finished all of my morning work. I typically eat lunch with my mentors. We started doing this at the beginning of my internship and have continued it since.

What does your afternoon typically entail?

My afternoons are usually very busy. I like to touch base with my managers and our clients. Communication is a key part of what makes things work so smoothly at Conner Strong & Buckelew, so I make sure it is a part of my daily routine.

What do you love to do outside of work?

A big part of my life outside of work is relaxation. During the week I like to take things a mile a minute so I like to find time to decompress in the evenings and on weekends. I’ll spend time with friends and family. I usually spend my Sunday mornings playing a round of golf or fishing with my dad.

Of the day you just described, what task/accomplishment makes you the proudest?

The thing that makes me feel most accomplished is the ability to make our clients’ lives easier. It is our goal to solve problems and help as much as we can along the way. Being able to do this and seeing the positive effects, brings me the most pride.

What is the best memory of your internship with Conner Strong & Buckelew so far?

The best memory from my internship with Conner Strong & Buckelew is not only the extensive knowledge I’ve acquired but the people who gave it to me. Conner Strong has a one-of-a-kind team. The atmosphere around the office makes coming to work every day feel less like a “job” and more like an opportunity. I feel that the relationships I’ve built within the Conner Strong & Buckelew family are ones that will last a lifetime.
