Caroline Gosnear

Marketing Intern 2019
School Attending: University of Massachusetts – Amherst

How do you describe your internship to someone you’ve just met?

As a Marketing Intern, I assist the firm’s various department’s display their expert knowledge in a clear and visually appealing way. My duties range from updating templates to creating new content for our social media platforms. I am very fortunate to work on a variety of projects, touching on the material that I’m learning in school.

What’s your morning ritual, prior to heading into the office?

I usually pack up my lunch and drive in a bit early to miss any traffic. I like getting here early so I can take my time. When I get here, I will sometimes grab a cup of coffee with some of the other interns, then get into my work.

What does your morning typically entail?

Once I get into the office, I usually check my email and calendar to see what if going on for the day. I then review my list of on-going projects and add to my list of “to-do’s” for the day. I will also check in with my team to see if there is anything they need help with. I will typically sit in on a call or a meeting in the early afternoon and then head to lunch.

What do you do for lunch?

I typically bring my lunch with me, but I like to meet up with the other interns down in the café for lunch. It is nice to catch up with them and see what they are working on in their respective departments. Sometimes we have organized lunches with Senior Leadership as part of our intern program. Those are really interesting and a great opportunity to meet high-level executives and hear about their career paths.

What does your afternoon typically entail?

The afternoon is usually when team meetings take place. I will also touch base with my managers on any projects I’m working on. If I’m working on a big project, I will continue to work on my own after lunch. I will put on a good podcast and just get to work.

What do you love to do outside of work?

During the week, I will usually go to the gym or hang out with my sisters after work. On the weekends, I am usually pretty busy. I enjoy going down to the beach or meeting up with friends from school. This summer I have gone on some fun weekend trips from Boston to D.C. Most of my friends have internships in Philly so we are on the same schedule. This makes it easy to meet for happy hour after work and make the most out of the weekends.

Of the day you just described, what task/accomplishment makes you the proudest?

I love the feeling of finishing a big project and crossing it off my list. A lot of the projects I have been assigned require a lot of time and focus. It could be several weeks until I have reviewed all the details, but when I sit down with my manager and get positive feedback for my work it makes it all worth my time.

What is the best memory of your internship with Conner Strong & Buckelew so far?

I really liked volunteering at the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden. It was great to work together with my entire intern class to give back to the community. Especially since we just moved to Camden, it was great to interact with the guests and learn about all the services CK offers.
