John Menninger is a Vice President and Senior Consultant for the Employee Benefits Division of Conner Strong & Buckelew. Menninger joined the firm in April, 2017. His responsibilities include account management, renewal negotiation and marketing, financial analysis, plan design and contribution strategy, and review and introductions of new benefits to clients.
Menninger joined Conner Strong & Buckelew after a 24 year career at Mercer. He was a Principal at Mercer, managing a $2.4 million book of business. He advised clients on plan design and contribution strategy (including consumer driven options), private exchange and administrative solutions, vendor selection and evaluation (all lines of coverage), financial projections and budgeting, employee meeting presentations, plan funding and stop loss, and day-to-day compliance and administrative issues. At various points in his career, Menninger also developed a market basket discount analysis tool, served as a staff supervisor (with up to 8 direct reports), served as media spokesperson for the Mercer National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans, and served on the pharmacy benefits consulting team. Prior to joining Mercer in 1993, he was an Associate with Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson).
